Since our e-mail/text communications are not encrypted, it is assumed that clients choosing to use email/text communication recognize this is not a secure platform for sharing protected health information. Although it is unlikely, there is a possibility that information you include in an email can be intercepted and read by other parties besides the person to whom it is addressed.  Additionally, communication via email cannot replace the relationship you have with a healthcare practitioner, and it is crucial that clinical content is communicated in synchronous platforms as much as possible.
